I had the chance to return to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe for the first time since 2019, once again to review cabaret and LGBTQ+ shows for the Scotsman.

I caught a couple of dozen shows during my week there – about half of my reviews have been published so far and you can read them by clicking through on the links below (in the order they were published). Happily, I would recommend all of these.

Mat Ricardo: The Extraordinary Gentleman | Reuben Kaye: The Butch is Back | An Evening Without Kate Bush

ALOK

Sooz Kempner: PlayStation | Séayoncé: Res-Erection

Myra DuBois’ A Problem Shared

Tina Del Twist: Caravan in the Sky

The Silent Treatment

Looking for Me Friend: The Music of Victoria Wood

Fabulett 1933

Final Baby Girl!

You can also read my round-up of four terrific queer shows here. They include Wilf, Delicious Fruit, Grandmother’s Closet and No Place Like Home – plus a nod at the excellent Ode to Joy (or How Gordon Got to Go to the Nasty Pig Party).

The remaining reviews will appear over the coming days (I’ll post another round-up when they’re out). Strong recommendations among them include:

Grace Petrie: Butch Ado About Nothing

Black Sheep

The Anniversary

Other strong recommendations for shows I saw but am not reviewing:

MasterClass

Gayboys

And I kept hearing great things about The Chosen Haram but wasn’t able to see it.
